We’re sure many of our students, faculty, and community members are wondering about the status of the Library and when we will reopen. We recognize the Library’s closure has been difficult for everyone.
Library staff still do not have safe and consistent access to the Millar Library building, due to fire safety system repairs needed in order for the Fire Marshal to sign off for staff occupancy. Additionally repair work continues to be done to restore the Library to a suitable condition for public use. Though the repairs are progressing, there have been complex issues encountered that have taken more time than expected. We are also in the process of replacing furniture, computers, and other technology damaged during the occupation.
We are still unable to lend print books or other physical materials from our regular collection or from other libraries. PSU students and faculty can request electronic articles and book chapters from other libraries through the library catalog. PSU students and faculty can also register as a Summit Visiting Patron at area academic libraries and borrow materials from other Pacific Northwest academic libraries through them. The Library’s pop-up location in the basement of the Smith Memorial Student Union is in room 026, and is available to current PSU card holders, including students, faculty, and staff.
Many of our public users have contacted us expressing how much they rely on the Library for access to computers, printers, research databases, and the print collection. We look forward to seeing our community patrons again when we are able to fully reopen.
Once Library workers are allowed access, we will focus on preparing the building for reopening.
We will continue to update Library Closure FAQs as we have new information. Questions? Please ask a librarian.
