The University Library is a leader on the Portland State campus in the realm of scientific communication and scholarly publishing. We strive to make scholarly and other works by students, staff, and faculty at Portland State readily accessible to the Portland State community and the community at large. The Library guides, educates, and partners with the PSU community to grow sustainable, open access research and publishing practices. We also assist the community in understanding how to negotiate author rights with publishers, and provide education about copyright and fair use, and the TEACH Act.
Science Communication and Publishing are part of an ecosystem in which scholars record and disseminate their scholarly contributions. This includes:
- formal publishing in journals, books, and conference proceedings
- processes of creating and editing scholarly works, including peer review
- author and publisher copyrights and licensing
- the distribution and access of scholarly works, including the economics of publishing and purchasing models
Subject Librarians can assist with questions about copyright, publishing, data management, and sharing your work.
