Computer & Network Acceptable Use

Academic Priority

The computer equipment and network in the PSU Library are intended to support the research, learning, and teaching activities of current PSU students, faculty, and staff. In addition, the PSU Library is committed to serving the research needs of the general public and other affiliated PSU community users that cannot be served by area public libraries. However, the Library reserves the right to give priority to current PSU students, faculty, and staff due to high demand. Restricting the number of computers available for public computing and setting limits on the time that the general public may use computing equipment are necessary, given resource constraints.

Acceptable Use Policy

Conduct which violates the PSU Library Acceptable Use Policy includes, but is not limited to:

Kiosk computers support Library research for PSU students, faculty, staff, and non-PSU community members. Web browsers on these computers may only access a specific range of Library-approved websites, and there are restrictions on what applications may be run.

Accessing websites on these computers other than those approved by the Library is a violation of the Library’s Acceptable Use Policy, and will result in your use of these computers being revoked, and may result in your being removed from the Library.

Violations of the Acceptable Use Policy may result in loss of computing privileges and/or removal from the Library.
