- Access to holdings is by appointment only. Generally, appointments are scheduled between 9:30 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. We will do our best to accommodate access requests but please schedule your appointment with as much lead time as possible.
- All Special Collections and University Archives materials are non-circulating and for use only in the Special Collections Reading Room.
- All researchers must complete a registration form and provide one form of valid photographic identification (e.g., student ID, driver’s license, passport).
- Students under 14 must be accompanied by a supervising adult.
- No food or drink allowed in the Reading Room.
- Please check with Special Collections staff about storage of backpacks, book bags, and large purses and folios during Reading Room appointments
- No pens allowed at Reading Room tables. Pencils are available.
- Laptop computers are allowed.
- Digital photography may be permitted—please inquire.
- All handling instructions provided by the Special Collections staff must be followed.
- All items must be handled with general care.
- Use gloves and book supports as instructed.
- Do not remove any items from their protective housing.
- All materials (folders in boxes, documents in folders) must be kept within the order received. Do not rearrange any materials. Use location markers in boxes as instructed.
- Do not mark, bend, or otherwise alter materials.
- Notify Special Collections staff of any irregularities.
- Any researcher wishing to publish a reproduction of Special Collections and University Archives material agrees to obtain permission prior to publication from the Head of Special Collections and from all holders of copyright. The researcher agrees to accept full responsibility for complying with laws enacted to protect copyright and privacy rights.
Failure to follow these policies will result in loss of access to all Special Collection and University Archives materials.
