Congratulations to recently promoted librarians at Portland State University Library!
Fine and Performing Arts Librarian Kristen Kern has been promoted to the rank of Professor. Kris started at PSU Library in 1972 as a part-time Arabic cataloging assistant, a position she held for many years before moving into the position of Preservation & Cataloging Librarian. More recently, she moved into her current position as a subject librarian, serving as liaison to several departments and programs, including Middle East Studies.
Communications and Outreach Librarian Joan Petit, who joined Portland State in 2009, has been promoted to Associate Professor with Indefinite Tenure. Joan formerly served as a subject librarian and liaison to several departments, including History and Judaic Studies. She continues to serve as liaison to Black Studies while also coordinating the Library’s communication and marketing efforts.
Reference and Instruction Librarian Kim Willson-St. Clair has been promoted to Senior Instructor I. Kim started at Portland State University Library in 1997 and has held positions in several areas of responsibility, including public relations, development, reference, student supervision, and instruction. She has held her current position since 2011 and works extensively with international students.
