Selections from the Portland State University Center for the Moving Image Collection
The Center for the Moving Image Film Collection includes films from the Portland State University Archives and the Tom T. Taylor Collection. The Center for the Moving Image was active at Portland State from 1969 to 1981. CMI was a core component of Portland’s creative community and many of its alumni went on to pursue influential careers as filmmakers, cinematographers, media artists, writers, journalists, educators, and community activists. Selections from the collection are highlighted here once they have been digitally transferred.
Tom T. Taylor Collection, 1967-2003
In 1969, Tom Taylor co-founded the PSU Center for the Moving Image with film educator Andries Deinum. Deinum and Taylor remained with the Center until it was closed by the PSU administration under the financial exigency of 1981. The material in this collection is comprised of administrative records, correspondence, news clippings, promotional material, and films created either by Taylor or his CMI students.
