New Faculty Reading Room Available

Date: 06/02/2011
The Faculty Reading Room, a joint project of the Portland State University Library and the PSU AAUP chapter, is for the use and enjoyment of all Portland State faculty. The room is envisioned as a well-equipped library carrel in which faculty members can get away from their offices for quiet reading, reflection, writing, and study. When fully occupied, the room can accommodate six people, four in armchairs and two at workstations equipped with scanners and connected to the campus network and networked printing in the Library. It is located in Room 430 of the Library (4th floor, north side). Faculty members may check out keys at the Library’s circulation desk on the 1st floor. The checkout period is four hours, and a key can be renewed if no one is waiting for access to the room. This room was established as part of the Fiscal Year 2010 salary reopener in which an agreement between PSU AAUP and the University made $400,000 available to the Library to support resources for faculty. The Reading Room is one such resource.
