Finding Non-English Materials
Description: Can't find books or articles in Spanish or Russian? Want to know if the library has Harry Potter in Japanese? Wonder no more! This workshop will help you discover books, articles and DVDs in an array of languages, both online and libraries worldwide. We will review searching for materials via library catalogs and online databases, as well as how to use online translation tools. By the end of the workshop, users will have a mental toolkit for locating materials written or spoken in the language of your choice.

Open Access (OA), Authors Rights and PDXScholar
Description: The benefits of open access publishing are many. Among them, OA publications are cited more frequently, researchers and students have access to research studies and scholarship without pay barriers, and content is accessible worldwide. Additionally U.S. federal agencies already require or will soon require open access for research studies published from funded grants. This workshop will discuss OA concepts, author rights best practices and how to use PDXScholar, Portland State University's Institutional Repository, to create global visibility of your scholarly work and address open access mandate requirements.
