The Library has the best wireless network on Portland State's campus. Wireless computing is available in the Portland State Library through the PSU Wireless Network for Portland State students, faculty, and staff. This network allows you to browse the Web or check your e-mail on your laptop or PDA while studying in the Library.

To use the wireless network in the Library:
- Set up your Portland State/Webmail Odin account if you haven't already done this. The Portland State Office of Information Technology (OIT) Helpdesk has FAQs that will help you set up your Odin account. You must be a current Portland State student, faculty member, or staff member to obtain an Odin account, but there are some exceptions made for guests or other sponsored visitors to Portland State.
- Make sure your laptop has a wireless networking PC card or built-in support for wireless networking that uses the 802.11b standard. Verify that your version of Windows or Mac OS supports the card. Contact the OIT Help Desk at (503) 725-HELP for assistance or see the Wireless FAQs for more information.
- Connect to the PSU network if you're a PSU student, faculty or staff with an Odin login account. PSU is an "open" (unencrypted) network with no additional configuration required. Users will have to accept pop-ups from wireless.pdx.edu.
- Open a Web browser on your wireless-enabled laptop or device. A login window will appear.
- Login into the wireless network using your Portland State Odin name (e.g. jdoe, not jdoe@pdx.edu) and your Odin password.
- You should now see a success message and should be able to use the World Wide Web.

There are other areas on campus where wireless networking is available outside the Library as well, as PSU offers wireless access through most of the academic and administrative buildings on campus.
