Adding Sources to Your Zotero Library:

Saving Citations from Catalogs and Databases

With many library catalogs, databases, and other websites, Zotero can automatically download full citation information for sources you find and add them to your library.

When Zotero can autamically download citation information you will see one of the following icons in your browser address bar:

  • Book Book
  • Journal Article Journal Article
  • Newspaper Article Newspaper Article
  • Film Film
  • File File
  • Collection Collection

To save a citation...

  • Click the icon.

  • A notification will appear in the lower right corner of your browser.

If you are viewing a list of items (library catalog search results, for example), You may see the Collection icon.

  • Clicking this icon will open a list of all the items on the page. Select which items you want to add to your library and click OK.
