The Friends of the Portland State Library have created an endowment fund to honor one of our founders -- one of our most loyal and dynamic supportersGary D. Robinson, who passed away on May 11, 2005. Gary was a gifted personnel trainer and entrepreneur, an inspiring leader of the Friends of the Library, and a good friend to everyone he knew.
What set Gary Robinson apart was his ability to inspire others and help them to recognize and act upon their own dreams and aspirations. At no time in his life were his fine qualities more apparent than in his last year as he bravely battled cancer. Gary continued to fully participate in life; he gave a very moving speech at a Library eventjust five days before his untimely death. He will be deeply missed and warmly remembered.
Due to his hard work and service on behalf of Portland State University, Gary was scheduled to receive one of its highest honorsthe annual PSU Outstanding Alumnus Award given out at the PSU Salutes! Event on May 12. Gary passed away, peacefully in his sleep on the evening before he was scheduled to receive it. His wife and dearest companion, Rebecca, and his two sons, Gary Jr. and Brook, were there at PSU Salutes! to greet well-wishers and to receive the award in posthumously for Gary Robinson.

The Friends of the Library have contributed $10,000 to establish the Gary D. Robinson Library Endowment Fund, with the goal of raising another $15,000 in Gary's name this year. All gifts are tax-deductible.
