To link to a specific article in our licensed databases, use a persistent link with the PSU proxy (a direct and stable link that includes PSU authentication). Persistent and proxied links are necessary because our databases are only accessible to Portland State affiliates.
This type of article link helps instructors remain in compliance with our database licenses and copyright law by linking to the article, rather than copying or uploading the article.
Important note regarding adding links to D2L: Article links in D2L need to open within D2L. Do not select "Open in new window".
1: Identify the persistent link to the full text article
Use the links below to view instructions for each vendor. This is not an exhaustive list of full-text resources, only those most frequently used in Portland State Library's collection.
EBSCO and Films on Demand provide persistent links that already include the proxy URL, and WorldCat Local permalinks do not require the proxy URL. Skip Step 2 in these instances.
If you need assistance with finding the persistent link for a vendor not listed below, please Ask Us!
Vendors:
| AnthroSource | JSTOR | SciVerse(Formerly Science Direct) |
| Emerald | OvidSP | SpringerLink |
| Highwire Press | Project Muse | Alexander Street |
| Ambrose Video |
2: Make a Proxied Database URL:
The proxy prefix should be part of all library article and database URLs. This prefix allows PSU students, faculty, and staff with valid Odin accounts access to the content.
Simply copy and paste a persistent URL from any of our databases into this box, then click "Create Link!". The box will display the new, proxied URL. Copy this URL and paste as needed (into a D2L course, email, etc.).
