Congratulations to Biology professor Ken Stedman and doctoral student Geoffry Diemer on receiving the 2013 BioMed Central Research Award. Stedman and Diemer’s article, “A novel virus genome discovered in an extreme environment suggests recombination between unrelated groups of RNA and DNA viruses,” was published in the leading research journal Biology Direct. The article was chosen by the judging panel for its innovation, high-quality execution, and discussion.
