Everybody Reads at PSU Library: CAE Civic Engagement Discussion

Center for Academic Excellence Civic Engagement Discussion: Diverse Human Landscape in Metropolitan Portland, the Global Marketplace, Our Workforce Needs and PSU's Innovative Classroom Responses

Tuesday, February 14, 8:30-10am
Millar Library, Room 170 

At this event the newly released data describing the racial disparities throughout the metro region will be discussed by primary researcher Ann Curry-Stevens and Consuelo Saragoza, Senior Advisor of Public Health and Community Initiatives at Multnomah County. Following the overview of the data, Dalton Miller-Jones, Professor Emeritus, will facilitate a panel discussion with several of our region's prominent employers, including these leaders:

  • Rich Smith, Vice President for Human Resources, Kaiser Permanente
  • Joshua Todd, Director, Commission on Children and Families, Multnomah County
  • Claudia Valderrama, Global Chief Financial Officer, Wieden + Kennedy
  • Grant Yoshihara, Vice President of Utility Operations and Chief Engineer, Nw Natural Gas

These business, health, and community executives will share the skills, knowledge, and attitudes needed for graduates of higher education to be successful in today's workplace.
