New Library Website!

Date: 09/10/2010
New Portland State Library Website On September 27, 2010, the Portland State University Library will launch a redesigned website. Before then, you can begin to familiarize yourself with the new website. We have redesigned the site and its navigation to simplify access to resources and services. We based the redesign on usage patterns and on input from students, faculty, and staff. We are also aligning our site visually with the forthcoming Portland State University website look. We know that the new library site is different from the old one, and that the change will take some getting used to. We hope that once you become familiar with it you will find it easier to use. On the new site there is a link for providing feedback. The website is always changing to meet the needs of the University community, so your input is very important.
A few highlights of changes:
  • A simplified homepage that brings more heavily-used items to the top and reduces visual clutter
  • Drop-down menus that also provide better access to more frequently-used links
  • A new Library Research Tutorial to help students learn about the research process
  • Homepage access to an instance of Google Scholar that links into our library-licensed content
  • Improved "Research Help" pages
  • Access to databases has been simplified
  • The Vikat (PSU-only) catalog is now on the "Resources" drop-down menu
Thanks to student employee Erik Harris for designing the poster shown above!
