Music Resources Available during All Library Hours!

Scores: where are they in the Millar Library?

- All music scores are located on the Third Floor in the Scores Room [Room 398], at the end of the south wing on the third floor. OPEN at all times that the Library is open!

Vinyl Records [LPs] - where are they in Millar Library?

LPs also are located on the Third Floor, on shelves to the south of the elevator lobby.

Where can I listen to LPs in Millar Library?

- Four listening stations with phonograph turntables and attached headphones have been set up outside the Scores Room [Room 398]. An additional station has been set up inside the Scores Room. You also can play CDs at these stations.

Compact Discs [CDs] - where are they in Millar Library?

- CDs can be requested and checked out at the Circulation Desk on the First Floor.

Where can I listen to CDs in Millar Library?

- To play CDs or DVDs, you can use any of the 118 computer workstations located in the First Floor OIT Computer Lab and the Second Floor Library Research Center.

What about headphones?

- You can either check out headphones at the Circulation Desk or bring your own headphones to listen at the 118 student computer workstations in the Library.

DVDs - where are they in Millar Library?

- DVDs can be requested and checked out at the Circulation Desk on the First Floor.

Music CDs, DVDs, vinyl records, scores, etc. - how long can they be checked out?

Music Course Reserves - where are they?

- Current Music Course Reserves are at the Circulation Desk in Millar Library.

Books about Music, and Music Journals - where do I find them?

- Music books and journals on the Third Floor shelves, in call number order. The most recent, loose issues of each music journal are shelved with bound volumes.

Reference Books about Music - where are they?

- All reference books are located on the Second Floor of Millar Library.

Oversized Scores - where are they?

- Oversized scores are located on the free-standing shelves in the middle of the Scores Room [Room 398], at the end of the shelves that hold normal-sized scores.

Group Listening Rooms - are there any? Can you reserve them in advance?

- Room 320 is a group study room where you can listen to CDs and view DVDs; headphones are not needed. Make room reservations up to 2 hours at the Circulation Desk, where you get the key to the room. An additional 2 hours is permitted if other students are not waiting for the room.

What happened to the old Music Room on the First Floor [Room 180]?

- Due to staff and space shortages, the Music Room could not be staffed to accommodate users all hours the Library is open. On the Third Floor, the music materials are now much more accessible directly by users all hours the Library is open.

Where are the browsable loose-leaf music notebooks that used to be in the old Music Room?

- They are temporarily located on book carts outside the music librarian's office (Room 220F). After these notebooks are cataloged, they will become part of the Reference collection on the Second Floor of the Library.

If I have questions, where can I go for help?

- First Floor: Circulation staff can help you track down items in the Library. (503-725-4424).

- Third Floor. Shelvers and a Stacks Supervisor can help you locate items.
