- Library Student Assistant
Purpose - To provide customer service for Portland State Library patrons, efficiently handle library materials, and support Library staff with the missions of the Department, Library and University.
Tasks - Customer service; maintain librarycollections; work with library-related databases; process incoming andoutgoing items; preparation of books for shelves; sort and shelvevolumes; shelf-read; assist library staff with collection maintenance;filing; photocopying.
Physical Requirements- Manual dexterity; may be required to lift heavy boxes and push heavybook trucks; may be required to sit for extended periods; may need tobe able to stand and walk for an hour or more.
Experience and Skill Qualifications - Attention to detail; self-motivated; working knowledge ofEnglish language; customer service experience a plus; knowledge oflibrary call number systems a plus; keyboard/computer skills helpful.
General Qualifications- Positions require current enrollment as a Portland State student.Students with a Work-Study Award as part of their financial aid packageare preferred.
