 SUMMIT Requests

 What is SUMMIT?

SUMMIT is the name of the union catalog for the Orbis Cascade Alliance consortium: 35 libraries in the Pacific Northwest who all agree to let each other's students, staff, and faculty use each other's library materials.

The SUMMIT Catalog is all of our library catalogs combined into one. There is also a request function within it that allows PSU students, staff, and faculty to request books and other library materials from member institutions.

 How does it work?

When you perform a search in the PSU Library Catalog and the item you are looking for is unavailable (checked out, lost, missing, in repair, or we don't have it at all), there is a button that says "Send Search to SUMMIT" and this will automatically search the SUMMIT catalog for that item.

If SUMMIT does have it and you want to request it:
  • Hit the button that says "Request This Item."
  • Click the login link and then select Portland State University from the drop down menu and hit "Submit."
  • Type in your last name and PSU ID# or Library barcode number.
  • Enter your email address so you can be notified when the item has arrived.
  • Hit "Submit" and the item will arrive at the PSU circulation desk within 3-5 business days, free of charge.

You can also go to any Summit library and check out materials in person, using your PSU ID card.

If SUMMIT does not have the item you are looking for, then you can fill out an Interlibary Loan - ILLiad request for it.
