Display cases & Exhibit locations
- First Floor Reading Area: four bookcase display cases (approximately 30 x 46 each)
- First Floor Elevator Lobby: Table display case (approximately 58 x 46)
Used primarily for academic department displays - Wall display area in elevator lobby on Floors: Basement, Third, Fourth and Fifth
- Free standing exhibits (space to be determined)

Handling & Maintenance of Exhibit
- Exhibits cases should be dusted & cleaned before mounting an exhibit
- Library materials should be handled and displayed with as little damage as possible; using gloves is highly recommended
- Library materials should be maintained in a clean environment
- Physical supports should be designed and used to avoid damage and stress to materials
- Supports should be constructed of acid-free materials
- Mylar ribbons should be used to open books for display
Environment
Light
UV radiation and intensity from lights or windows should be kept low. Ideally, upper limits would be a 50-75 microwatts per lumen of UV radiation and 300 lux Library materials should never be displayed in cases that have internal lighting Photographic flashes should be discouraged
Temperature & Relative Humidity
Preservation should regularly monitor environmental conditions Display/Exhibit cases should be kept at near ideal conditions: (68 F, 50% RH) Extreme temperatures and humidity should be avoided Library materials must be removed when conditions endanger the materials
Security
Efforts should be taken to protect exhibited materials from vandalism, accidental harm and theft.
Display cases must have secure locks and exhibits must be located in areas where they can be monitored.
Keys are secured in the PSU Library Administration Offices.
Other
PSU Library materials must be checked out via PSU Library Catalog to the PR Committee Exhibits card.
Restricted or Special Collections Materials
Very fragile, rare, unique or vulnerable materials should not be exhibited without special precautions and arrangements with the PSU Library Preservation and PR Committees.
