Consultation Stations, Second Floor
Home » Services » Computing in the Library » Computers in the Library
  • There are three Consultation Stations available for group study and consultation purposes on the second floor of the Library.
  • Consultation Stations provide access to the Internet, World Wide Web, and all Library-related research catalogs, databases, services, and resources. In addition, special software such as ArcGIS 9.0, SciFinder Scholar, World Development Indicators 2004, 19th Century STC, Chapman & Hall CRC, FARS, NSTC Series I and II, MediaMark Reporter, and other resources are available on the Consultation Stations.
  • Because there are limited Consultation Stations in the Library, all library users wishing to use them must ask for assistance at the Reference Desk.
  • Library users who need to use the special software loaded on these stations or who are in a group working on a research project may use these stations.
  • Valid Portland State Odin/Webmail accounts are used to log into these stations. Non-Portland State Library users may also use these stations, if they are available. Temporary login accounts may be requested at the Reference Desk (2nd floor).
  • Consultation Stations are connected to fee-based printers on the second floor. Some Library Catalog pages and library sites may be printed for free, but other types of printing will cost $.10 per page.
  • A scanner is available for research and educational use on one of the consultation stations. Please ask at the reference desk.
  • Files and documents can be saved to a portable storage medium, such as a USB flash drive or zip drive, not to the hard drives of the computers. MS WordPad is also available on the computers for storing notes, which can then be sent to users' e-mail accounts.
