This resource provides information about the library's collection of children's literature award winners. The following links include lists of the winning titles and their respective call numbers in the library. This collection is shelved on the 5th floor in the southeast corner of the the building, at the beginning of the PZ call number range. Paper copies of the lists of award winners are available on the 5th floor, at the beginning of the awards shelf.

Mildred L. Batchelder Award
The Batchelder Award is awarded to an American publisher for a children's book considered to be the most outstanding of those books originally published in a foreign language in a foreign country, and subsequently translated into English and published in the United States.

Pura Belpre Award
The Belpre Medal honors a Latino/Latina writer and illustrator whose works best portray, affirm, and celebrate the Latino cultural experience in an outstanding work of literature for children and youth.

Caldecott Medal
The Caldecott Medal honors the artist of the most distinguished American picture book for children.

Coretta Scott King Award
The Coretta Scott King Award honors children and young adult authors and illustrators of African descent whose distinguished books promote an understanding and appreciation of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s "American Dream."

Newbery Medal
The Newbery Medal honors the author of the most distinguished contribution to American literature for children.

Michael L. Printz Award
The Michael L. Printz Award is chosen by the YALSA division of the American Library Association. The award winning title and honor titles exemplify literary excellence in young adult literature (ages 12-18).

Young Reader's Choice Award
Nominated titles are those published within the previous three years, printed in the U.S. or Canada, and are already favorites with readers. Only children, teachers, parents, and librarians in the Pacific Northwest are elligible to nominate titles.
