Mildred L. Batchelder Award
Home » Research Help » Research Guides

This award was established in 1966 and honors Mildred L. Batchelder, whose life's work was "to eliminate barriers to understanding between people of different cultures, races, nations, and languages." The award is granted annually to an American publisher for a children's book considered to be the most outstanding of those books originally published in a foreign language in a foreign country, and subsequently translated into English and published in the United States.

The following list includes the award winners, and their respective call numbers in the Millar Library. The Children's Literature Award Winners are all shelved together at the beginning of the PZ call number range in the southeast corner of the 5th floor. Titles without call numbers are not currently owned by the Millar Library. Ask for help at the reference desk on the 2nd floor if you need assistance with obtaining a copy from another library.

The list of award winners and their locations in the Millar Library can be retrieved by entering Batchelder Award as a keyword search in the Vikat online catalog.
