Find It @ PSU and Citation Linker

Find It @ PSU and Citation Linker are library tools that will help you link directly from an article reference or citation in a database to the full text of that article, if full-text is available. With Find It @ PSU, you can immediately access the article you want if it is available electronically in full text from the PSU Library.  With Citation Linker, you can use a form to input the information you have about an article, journal, or other work, and the system will check our holdings to see if we can provide the full-text of the article. You can also use other options to check the Library Catalog (Vikat) to see if we have the item in print.

Citation Linker

Citation Linker is a great tool to use when you already have a citation for an article or other item that you need to find. It can be found on our "Databases & Articles" tab, under "Other Resources." Simply enter the information you know about the citation into the form and Citation Linker will search for the article or item in PSU Library's online content. Citation Linker will create a menu of options for you. If Citation Linker finds full text, that link(s) will display near the top of the menu.

Citation Linker will work best if you give it the following information:

    • Full title of the journal or ISSN (a unique identifier)
    • Year
    • Volume
    • Issue
    • First page of the article.

How do I use Find It @ PSU Links?

Simply look for the Find It @ PSU button when searching in many of the databases offered by the library. PSU-enabled databases are marked in our Databases & Full-Text Resources lists with a Find It @ PSU icon.

Whenever you see the Find It @ PSU button in a database, click on the button and a menu of options will open in a new browser window. You may then:

  • link to the full text of the article in an electronic journal, when the library has access to the resources;
  • search the library catalog for the item;
  • or choose other options as displayed on the menu.

Note that different databases may display the Find It @ PSU button in different locations. Some display the button on the search results page, while others only show the button in the full record view.
