Building Accessibility
The wheelchair ramp is on the southeast side of Portland State Millar Library. The front entrance south-side door is automatic.
Service Animals
Service animals are welcome.
Corridors
Corridors are accessible.
Computers
Two Adaptive Computer Stations are located near the Reference Desk on the second floor of the Library. In addition to the software available on the Research computers, the Adaptive Stations have the JAWS and ZoomText software packages and come equipped with large print keyboards. They are available during regular library hours.
Doors and Hardware
Doors and hardware throughout Library ADA accessible. Automatic doors on south side of elevator lobby in basement, 3rd floor, 4th floor, and 5th floor
Drinking Fountains
Wheelchair accessible drinking fountains are located between the restrooms on each floor.
Elevators
Three main elevators are in the middle of the first floor, providing Braille lettering and access to all floors in Portland State Millar library.
Group Study Rooms
Group Study Rooms: Rooms 92, 94, 96 and 98 are wheelchair accessible.
Offices
Offices are generally accessible.
Restrooms
There are accessible restrooms on all floors. First-floor restrooms have automatic door openers.
Video/DVD Viewing Rooms
Video/DVD Viewing Rooms: Rooms 2 and 304 wheelchair accessible.
Library Services
Library Instruction
Portland State Library facilitates learning about its resources, services, and researching by customized tours or instruction. Library guides will be made available in other formats upon request. If you are interested in customized instruction or accommodations for the Library credit class, contact Instructional Services.
Retrieving Materials from the Library's Collections
Staff at any public service desk will retrieve materials from the Library's collections for patrons with disabilities. Staff may not be able to immediately retrieve materials if the desk is busy, but a list may be left and picked up at a later, agreed upon time in such instances. Patrons are encouraged to bring an assistant if a large numbers of materials must be retrieved.
Photocopying
Staff at the Circulation Desk, 1st floor Millar Library, will make photocopies for patrons needing assistance. Staff may not be able to immediately copy materials if the Circulation Desk is busy. Materials may be left and picked up at a later, agreed upon time in such instances. Patrons are encouraged to bring an assistant if large quantities of photocopying are needed.
Printing
Staff at any public service desk near a printer will help patrons needing assistance.
Research Assistance
