Services for Faculty
To start using Library services, we recommend obtaining a PSU ID card, an ODIN computer account, and an Inter-Library Loan account. For instructions on how to do this, see Services for Distance Learners and Faculty. These accounts will allow you to access the full range of Library services online from the library web site http://library.pdx.edu. The Library also maintains a web page summarizing and providing links to Library services for faculty members at: http://www.lib.pdx.edu/role_based_services/faculty.php
Databases
The Library's databases cover all of Portland State's curricular subject areas and include multiple formats, including articles, images, datasets, standards, reference materials, and more. To access databases, click the Databases tab on the Library home page.
Online Catalog and Access to Collections
The Library's online catalog (Vikat) links not only to content in paper format, but contains links to digital resources, including online periodicals and e-books. If you are looking for online access to specific journals, start with a journal title search in the Library catalog. Instructors and students in distance courses, and living more than 30 miles from the Portland Campus may be eligible for home delivery of physical items. The faculty borrowing period for most physical items owned by Portland State is for the academic year, and is there is no limit on number of items borrowed.
Inter-Library Loan and Summit
Faculty members have access to a world of resources through the Summit regional borrowing system and through Inter-Library Loan (ILL). The Summit system provides quick access to materials from libraries in the Pacific Northwest. Inter-Library Loan provides access to materials from around the world. Both Summit and ILL can be accessed trough the Library's catalog. If we don't have what you need, click "send search to Summit" and a search of both Summit and ILL will be launched. Borrowing periods for Summit and InterLibrary Loan vary. If you have any questions, call the Library at 503.725.5874
Subject Librarians
Librarians with subject expertise and assigned to your department are available to answer your questions about the library's collections and services and to assist you in your research and instruction. Contact a subject librarian at: http://library.pdx.edu/appointments.html
Online Help
The Library provides online help through subject-based research guides, online chat and e-mail reference, and tutorials and tool-specific guides.

The Library seeks to educate the Portland State community on copyright issues and provides information to researchers to help them protect their rights as authors. E-Reserves
